Global Air Logistics and Training, Inc. (GALT) is a spirited, innovation US Defense Contractor working to modernize Command, Control, and Communications. GALT is hiring for Mechanical Engineer positions in San Diego, California. 

 

The qualified candidate will work in a rapid integration and testing environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The qualified candidate is responsible for collaborative, complex designs of structural, thermal management, in size, weight, and power (SWAP) constrained systems for airborne, ground-based mobile, and shipborne military command, control, and communication systems. The selected candidate will both support and lead the engineering teams as appropriate and provide well-founded engineering advice to all members of GALT support organizations, and suppliers to successfully accomplish projects within cost and schedule to the satisfaction of leadership and the end customer -  typically measured by degree of contract compliance.

 

The selected candidate is responsible to know the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering for systems design and assembly in the context of bringing rugged, defense systems to life. The selected candidate will perform a wide variety of tasks ranging from mechanical requirements Assessment, Integration and Testing to Systems, to include customer site support activities, and demonstration test and evaluation activities. The integration and test tasks involve all aspects of hardware integration up to and including the planning and conduct of formal systems electrical test activities at contractor or customer sites. Tasking may also include fly-away support to various locations working in concert with various military assets.


o    Develop Architectures
o    Manage Requirements
o    Generate test approach and test requirements
o    Plan, conduct and document laboratory tests of integrated components ensuring their expected capabilities and interactions are operational
o    Generate detailed execution plans for field demonstrations to include ground and flight safety of operations.

o    Coordinate all required resources for demonstrations.
o    Manage execution and demonstrations according to the program schedule
o    Manage the collection, reduction and analysis of test data
o    Generate test reports
o    Collaborate with Engineering group and customers for new requirements and testing
o    Generate and review the technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation associated with the design and build of the products
o    Lead Integration and testing of multiple hardware and software subsystems

Required Skills, Experience, and Education

o    Bachelor’s Degree (BS, E.E/B.S) in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science
o    10 + years’ experience with Tactical Data network

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education

o    Secret Clearance preferred
o    Experience in networks, CDL, Link 16, etc. preferred
o    Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic environment
o    Ability to work in a collaborative environment
o    Strong oral and written communications skills
o    Strong critical and analytical thinking
o    Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure
o    Excellent communication and work organization skills are a must
